Brokeback Mountain

Excellent. I HAVE watched it four times. Yes, Ennis broke Jack's back! LOL

Set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, the film tells the story of two young men -- a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy -- who meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys, and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.

Unfortunately, I didn't run to the theater to see this movie. Upon learning its content revolved around a male homosexual relationship, this aspect further deterred my haste to view the film. Being a heterosexual female(strictly dickly, lol), it was of no particular interest to me. I had limited knowedge of what goes on in Gay relationships, and always assumed it differed extremely from what I have experienced in my relationships. However, once I viewed the depiction of a Jack & Ennis's relationship, I learned when it comes to LOVE, the only difference is preference of gender. The emotions felt are the same. The scene of Ennis in that alley, doubled over..crying,OMG! I could feel his pain. Then there was Jack's first visit, how Ennis was running thru his home, around his wife, all while throwing overnite items in a bag??... Lord knows I have felt that way about a man. Lastly, Jack's tearful drive home because he did not get to spend time with Ennis. I could relate so well to their emotions. I thought this film was a superb love story. I've reviewed Brokeback Mountain 5 times, & it's one of my favorite movies. Thank you Havethetime, if not for you, I would've never taken the time, and possibly missed out on an extraordinary film.

I watched this movie at the suggestion of Have. I have watched it a total of 6 times. This was an excellent film.

I took the movie to work to watch while sluffing off, LOL. Others reactions to the movie was a mixture of comical and sad. People I discussed the movie with or had themselves seen it, could not get beyond the fact that it was a love story which involved two men. They seemed unable to see that the movie crossed gender barriers and could readily apply to anyone. They seemed hung up on that one little fact, it involved two men. How sad. This is a film that could speak as a testament of love to anyone. You could feel the pain, love, and longing between the characters and easily transplant yourself in their place.

I have suggested the movie to a few friends with this warning, if you can not watch with an open and receptive mind don't watch it. It is only with the open and receptive mind can you enjoy the beauty and complexity of this film.
